Inspired by Greg Walters’ colorful Dirt Late Model, as seen during the 2010 Fred Brownfield Memorial at Grays Harbor Raceway.
Just a few of the special points of interest include the detailed body graphics over the car, lots of exposed tube framing, and wheels in action –in the air and wrinkled with pressure. One of my favorite challenges of this project was recreating the family portrait dedicated to Doug Walters. I had to closely examine several different reference pics I had taken to determine what some of the sponsor stickers were all about, and then apply what I found to make it work for this painting. Look closely at the slideshow below and you’ll see even more to appreciate.
This beautiful high-quality giclee print is mounted in a custom 10×25 matte black metal frame protected behind non-glare acrylic and acid-free foam board backing .
