Inspired by the P-47D 44-90471 “Hairless Joe” that’s part of the Erickson Collection in Madras, Oregon.
I really liked how the metal cowling turned out and a lot of the texture of the plane. There was lots of stenciling on the plane in Madras so I did my best to “imply” much of the text without distracting from the artwork itself. There also is plenty going on under the wing. Look closely at the slideshow below and you’ll see even more to appreciate.
This beautiful high-quality giclee print is mounted in a custom 10×20 matte black metal frame protected behind non-glare acrylic and acid-free foam board backing .
